For me, art, in the form of paintings, is a gift from a higher power. The artist is gifted with an irresistible need, an urge to create. My belief is that paintings should be bright, bold, beautiful, visually appealing and interesting, while serving as a repository for concentrated wealth. What makes some paintings desirable and others shunned by society? Ah, that is the question. For me, paintings are dreams captured in our minds eye and then physically recreated by the painter to express a dream, a snapshot using: form, content, color and appetizing fragments of life. People know desirable art when they see it. Art is universal - it feeds man’s ancient need for visual mythology. An understanding of this basic human need is one of the most important gifts any artist can posses. Paintings appear out of the collective dreams of mankind. It is man's basic need to understand these tiny visual stories about his existence while his mind slumbers. Dreams are narrative about life as understood through a resting mind. Metaphor and symbolism are used to expand this narrative using art to help man understand basic mysteries of life on multiply levels of thought - both conscious and unconscious. Home |
